Guard Cap Selector
 
There may be cases where our STANDARD GUARD-CAPS (S STYLE), FRICTION GUARD-CAPS (F STYLE) or UNIVERSAL GUARD-CAPS do not exactly meet your application needs. In addition to our standard product line, however, MOLDED DEVICES, INC. has in stock hundreds of tools to make GUARD-CAPS, both F STYLE and S STYLE, from which protective caps and covers may be molded.

Below is a listing of all the tooling available to make F STYLE and S STYLE caps. Each tool can be used to make a combination of parts: we can easily vary the inside length, wall thickness, color and finish or material properties to give you just the cap, cover or protective device you need.
 
How To Choose F Style Caps

F STYLE caps are intended to stretch over the parts to be covered and be retained by friction. When choosing a F STYLE cap, select a cap with an inside diameter near to BUT SLIGHTLY SMALLER THAN the outside diameter of the part to be covered.
   
How To Choose S Style Caps

S STYLE caps are intended to be held in place by the retainer ridge in the I.D. of the cap. When choosing an S STYLE cap as a flange protector, select a cap with a MAJOR I.D. (A DIM.) near to BUT SLIGHTLY LARGER THAN the outside diameter of the flange to be covered; otherwise, select a cap with a MINOR I.D. (B DIM.) near to BUT SLIGHTLY SMALLER THAN the outside diameter of the part to be covered.
 
Often F STYLE caps chosen from the GUARD-CAP Consolidated Reference Chart are often assigned special part numbers. For that reason, always refer to the Item Number or Tool Number when communicating with MOLDED DEVICES, INC. about your application.

  How to choose and order an END OPENING GUARD-SLEEVE

When choosing an END OPENING GUARD-SLEEVE, choose a container with an I.D. approximately ten per cent (10%) greater than the O.D. of the part to be contained and approximately twenty-five per cent (25%) longer than the length of the part to be contained.


All Specialty Containers and Covers are made standard of Translucent Green vinyl; however, when ordering parts, the complete part number includes the part number from the chart and a two-letter suffix code that specifies the material used. For example, to order an END OPENING GUARD-SLEEVE with a 2.5" I.D. and a 4.25" inside length made of Translucent Green vinyl, the complete part number would be "25-42BB".
